You will meet your guide directly at the Galleria dell’Accademia where you can access without having to get in line, so you can start the tour immediately. You will admire several masterpieces of Renaissance art, including priceless sculptures - as "the Prisoners" by Michelangelo - and paintings made by the great masters of the Florentine school.
Among all the works of art stored in the Galleria dell'Accademia, the most famous is without doubt the David, a colossal sculpture over 5 meters high, built by Michelangelo Buonarroti in the early sixteenth century. Originally located in Piazza della Signoria, at the end of the nineteenth century the David was moved inside the museum to be preserved in the best way. During the guided tour you will learn different things especially about Michelangelo and the fascinating period in which he lived.
After the visit to the Galleria dell’Accademia there will be a break for lunch. Later on, the tour continues with a walk through the historic center of the city and its treasures as the Duomo and the Baptistery of Florence; the Palazzo Vecchio and the beautiful Piazza Signoria; the streets along the Arno River and finally the Ponte Vecchio.
