The inhabitants of this archipelago are about 4,500, and from 1291 here the glass is produced and the glass is being worked, the decision was taken by the Venice Council which decided to relocate glass production here because the ovens were creating too many fires and for this reason they were forced to cease their activities and to move to other areas, the choice fell on Murano.
