The museum opened its fascinating exhibition in 2015 and its wonderful collection is now spread over four levels, a journey through more than 3,000 years of history of Egyptian civilization. The Regio Museo delle Antichità Egizie was formally founded in 1824 with the acquisition by King Carlo Felice of a large collection, was assembled by Bernardino Drovetti. During the 19th century, the Italian Archaeological Mission did a number of excavations along the Nile River.
The 3,500 B. C. eye-catching tomb is the center showpiece of the museum. The grandness of the tomb contains the sarcophagi, statues, sundries, furniture, and some very astonishing preserved salted meat along with some remains of tamarind and grapes in a pottery bowl. One of the world's oldest painted cloth, 5,500 years old was found in a tomb near Gebelein, depicting ritual dancing and hunting.
