8 Days Escorted Tour of Northern Italy departing from Rome

includeTravel through Lazio, Tuscany, Lombardia, Piedmont and Veneto in an eight-day tour in which you will discover the North Italy with its beautiful cities and its beautiful lakes. Be enchanted by the romance of historical and international cities such as Florence, Assisi, Bologna, Stresa, Verona, Milan, Venice.

Day 1: Rome, Assisi, Siena, Florence

You will depart from Rome at 7:15 am via a luxurious coach and arrive in Assisi where you will explore the tiny town at your leisure. After lunch (not included) get on board the bus for Siena, the city where the famous Palio is held in the heart of the city: Piazza del Campo, the shell-shaped square. Then head on to Florence. Dinner and spend the night at your hotel.

Day 2: Florence

After breakfast, explore the city of Florence and get exposed to Italian art. You'll be amazed by the beauty of the monuments, churches and squares in the city. You will visit the major places of interest: the Cathedral, the Baptistery of San Giovanni with the bronze doors of Ghiberti, Giotto's bell tower, Piazza della Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio and the Basilica of Santa Croce. Have lunch at a Tuscan restaurant in Piazza Santa Croce and enjoy the rest of the afternoon strolling along the cobblestone streets of Florence or go for a short trip to Pisa, famous for the Leaning Tower. Overnight stay in Florence.

Day 3: Florence, Bologna, Padova, Venice

Depart for Bologna after having breakfast at your hotel. Once there, you will come across the well-designed city center with its shopping streets and porticos. From Piazza Malpighi get to Piazza Nettuno and Piazza Maggiore, the heart of the city. You will then reach Padua, a beautiful pilgrimage town for the Basilica of St. Anthony. In the evening, arrival in Venice, the city of love and undoubtedly the most beautiful reality in the world built by man. Check in at your hotel for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 4: Venice, Milan

After breakfast, you will head out to Milan by train and explore the city that is famous for fashion and design. Afterward, you can check in at your new hotel for the night.

Day 5: Milan, Lago Orta, Stresa, Como

After breakfast at your hotel, you will depart at 8:30 am to Lake Orta, a small but attractive lake located in the north-eastern part of Piedmont. You can stop for a short visit at Orta San Giulio, and then take a boat to reach San Giulio island which is practically occupied entirely by the Monastery Mater Ecclesiae. You will head back to Orta by ferry and take a bus to Stresa. Stresa is an international tourist destination, thanks to the wonderful natural environment and landscape of the lakeside overlooking the Borromean islands. Free time for lunch. In the afternoon tour of Isola dei Pescatori. Proceed to Isola Bella where you can visit, independently, the Borromeo Palace and its beautiful gardens. Return to Stresa and then departure to Como. Check in at the hotel and overnight.

Day 6: Como, Bellagio, Varenna, Bergamo, Brescia

After breakfast, explore the village of Como and then take a boat on Lake Como for a visit to Bellagio. Enjoy lunch in the town and return to the pier where you go on a scenic boat trip to Varenna. then move on to Bergamo. After a short exploration, you head to Bergamo, a truly historic and artistic jewel characterized by its urban structure: the "lower town" (città bassa) is modern and dynamic, while the famous "upper town" (città alta) houses the city's medieval history. Departure to Brescia where you will be spending the night at your new hotel.

Day 7: Brescia, Sirmione, Riva del Garda, Verona

Enjoy breakfast and visit Lake Garda, the largest lake in Italy. Explore the west coast of the lake and enjoy some of the wines and olive oil that is manufactured locally. Then, head off toSirmione where you will further appreciate the beauty of Lake Garda and its surroundings. You will take a boat tour to see the Catullo ruins and other ancient monuments. Then after a free time for lunch, you head off to Riva del Garda at the northern side of the lake. Then stop at Verona for the day and overnight.

Day 8: Verona, Milan

After breakfast, go for an exploration of the city of Verona, walking through its narrow streets to visit ancient monuments and take in the culture of the city of Romeo and Juliet. Later on, go for lunch before leaving for Milan where the tour ends.
