Our day excursion from Cagliari will give you the opportunity to fully immerse yourself in the wildest landscapes of the inner part of Sardinia. Accompanied by an accredited local guide you will explore the Marmilla region, rich in natural beauties and archaeological ruins.
You will depart directly from your hotel in Cagliari or from any address you prefer within the city. Traveling aboard our comfortable bus you will pass across spectacular countryside areas, characterized by green rolling hills and typical Mediterranean nature.
We will reach the Marmilla, a beautiful region of inner Sardinia, full of historical and artistic treasures such as the castle of Las Plassas and the Wall Murals of Villamar, where local artists painted the walls of the town with political and historical events.
Once arrived in the lovely town of Tuili we will make a short visit to the church of San Pietro and its precious altarpiece realized by the Master of Castelsardo, an anonymous artist who worked in Sardinia between the late 15th and early 16th century. Then, passing through spectacular forests, we will arrive to the famous Natural Park of the Giara: a promontory which is surrounded by the scents and the colors of the maquis shrubland . During the excursion in this typical Mediterranean nature we can observe the small wild horses of the Giara, a particular species of horses, unique in the world, perfectly integrated in this natural environment.
Prepare to be amazed by the characteristic paulis, special natural water basins where bloom myriads of cyclamen, violet, saffron, anemones, daisies and magnificent colorful orchids (in spring). You will learn how to recognize the typical plants of Mediterranean vegetation and you will discover their use in nutrition, medicine and daily activities of the locals. Also, you will admire important archaeological ruins dating back to the Neolithic, the Nuragic and Roman periods, as well as some interesting pastoral settlements, used until a few years ago, characterized by huts (called pinnettu in Sardinian dialect).
Meeting point information and local telephone numbers at your destination are included on your Confirmation Voucher.
During the trip there will be opportunities to make some stops to buy the lunch (at local bars).
We suggest wearing comfortable clothes and sunglasses. In the summer months, it is also recommended to bring a hat, water and sunscreen.
