Come and spend 4 days in Sicily full of nature and unexplored and beautiful places with this nature tour on the Etna coast: landscapes, city and nature come together in a unique mix. You will visit Catania, Etna, Taormina and much more. You will be provided with a car rental and the accommodation at Hotels.
Pick up the car at Catania Airport. Just after breakfast at the hotel, you will tour the fish market known as Piscaria in Catania. This is part of Sicily represents exactly the essence of the town; the sounds, flavour and also the colour. Via Crociferi is acclaimed as the Baroque jewel of the fifteenth century, used as a movie set and as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This is a perfect place to stop when touring the city, the Saint Agata Cathedral and the “Liotro”, or city’s emblem, the Piazza Duomo from where the Via Etnea begins and the very famous Catania street. After this visit is a visit to the amazing Cyclops Riviera which depicts a different era, which is, in fact, the location of the mythological legends and Realism novels. For dinner, we highly suggest to try seafood in one of the typical restaurants in Capomulini, a popular sea village, near Acireale.
Going through the natural route and you will not miss a visit to the Mount Etna. A volcano known as Mongibello or Hephaestus’ forge will captivate you with its amazing landscapes, thinned clouds and a view of the coast. Using cable car, or a jeep you will enjoy the slopes and views from the highest active volcano in Europe. You can also visit Etna villages known for their thriving wine businesses. Visit Castiglione di Sicilia, and take a beautiful walk through the Passopisciaro and Solicchiata vineyards. You can also take peaceful walks through the villages of Linguaglossa, Zafferana and Nicolosi. They are famous for their traditional crafts and cookery.
This day is specially reserved for a tour of Taormina, also known as the Pearl of Ionian Sea. A holiday paradise for Grand Tour writers and a set for movies and events. Littered with beautiful little beaches and the dazzling Isola Bella featuring bars, shops, the Greek Theatre, Palazzo Corvaja and a private view of the Naxos Bay, Taormina is simply a place to be. You ncan stroll around its tiny and posh streets for the whole day, enjoy perhaps an aperitif at sunset ina panoramic bar.
On the last day of the tour, you will be visiting the Sicilian canyon, the Alcantara Gorges (Gole dell’Alcantara). Descending by lift or simply walking, you will get the opportunity to visit beautiful gorges which have been dug by Alcantara River into the Mojo volcanic crater. You can choose to walk and also tour this area by canyoning or body rafting.
At the end of the fourth day, the tour package will be over and the car dropped off.
