The wonderful city of Bari, the capital of the Apulia region, since ancient times was an important commercial and cultural crossroads. The historic center of Bari, surrounded by a massive wall and crossed by narrow streets, hides a rich cultural heritage. Among the major attractions of the city is undoubtedly the imposing Castle, with its vast courtyard; the Basilica of St. Nicholas, excellent example of Romanesque architecture; and the imposing Cathedral, flanked by a tall bell tower.
 
Bari is also famous for its delicious cuisine. Exploring the narrow streets of the old town is easy to find outdoor tables where local products are exhibited, such as the "orecchiette" (typical kind of pasta), almond cakes and other products prepared directly on the roads.
